You are a talented member of a Sales team, a story teller utilizing strategic insights, solutions and analytics required to execute sound category management. You have demonstrated skills as a Category Insights Manager to enhances customer planning, sales execution and financial results of your sales team. You have a passion for ownership and development of Category/Business Reviews, Top to Top and New Item Presentations. You are a key member of a team and provide insightful and prescriptive analysis of available resources including Nielsen syndicated data, internal data, category and shopper insights and industry studies. What You Do. Leverage your story-telling abilities along with data, insights, and shopper intelligence to influence long-term category management plans to accomplish the retailers objectives, align category strategies, and drive sales Responsible for analyzing customer-specific information, including Nielsen or IRI syndicated data, internal Sargento data, and retailer data (POS, loyalty, etc.) to measure category and brand effectiveness and subsequently provide recommendations for improving customer category and brand growth and profitability. Your essential duties and responsibilities will be partnering with our West and Central customer teams to deliver and present strategic insights and solutions to execute sound category management through: On-going sales trend tracking and evaluation Customer business planning in partnership with key stakeholders Category reviews Influence buyers and internal partners around optimal assortment and space management initiatives Evaluating pricing and promotion effectiveness New distribution and space management initiatives Monitoring competitive activity Demand planning Special projects and information requests as they arise Develops and maintains category management tools and information while working with the category management team and leveraging cross-functional teams. Cultivates multiple internal and external relationships across customers and within Sargento and our agency resources to elevate category management Works closely with Advantage Ai2 category management resources to ensure broad portfolio support and linkage with broker partners Works with manager and sales teams to identify analytical support needs by initiating processes and disciplines to ensure agency analytical services are proactive and maintained. Trains and develops skill sets of agency sales team and analytical services to meet Sargento demands for best in class category management practices. Supports trade management efforts for improved accuracy by providing category analyses that facilitate pricing and promotional efficiency. Develops sound customer relationships that provide an opportunity for Sargento to participate in or lead category management reviews including assortment optimization for all assigned customers. Your Education and Experience. Bachelors Degree from four-year College or university and four years food industry experience required. Proficiency in Nielsen and/or IRI databases is required. Experience with Shopper card data and insights are strongly preferred. Your Qualifications. Demonstrated sound syndicated data knowledge and ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills are necessary for this position including word processing, spreadsheet, Internet, e-mail and presentation software. Demonstrated relationship builder with internal team members and external resources and customers. Demonstrated success in driving brand growth and profitability utilizing category management tools.
